CONTINUUM

Connecting to the pulse of life through direct experience of the body - whether one is gardening, dancing, riding horses, practicing yoga, or standing still…all fall into a large and wholesome category of somatics. Continuum invites us to examine breath, gravity and sensation through lens of curiosity. Mentored by movement pioneer Emilie Conrad, Continuum is the foundation of my work as a movement artist and educator.  To learn more about Continuum, click here.

SOMATIC YOGA
How are you arriving today?
What is your body calling for?
Where can the breath go?
How can this practice support you now, today?

My teaching embraces an approach to yoga that tailors the practice to each student's emotional and physical states, age, background, interests and goals. Coupled with the somatic practice of Continuum and supported by the latest research in neuroscience, the practice focuses on wellness, posture, and breath. It is both restorative and energizing. Small classes, private lessons, and online.

SOMATIC DANCE

Over the course of 25 years integrating teachings from improvisation, contemporary, Balinese Dance, meditation and yoga...Individual Movement Art emerged. It is an approach to sourcing the body as a vehicle to express emotions, ideas, and relationships to space, humans, and the natural world.

BALINESE DANCE
Balinese dance and culture has been a focus of my research since 1996. How I chose Bali remains a mystery to me. Perhaps Bali chose me, in the way that dance as a life path chooses the dancer. I do know that I felt a deep longing to experience dance in a place where it is revered and understood to be spiritually and culturally significant and essential. My ongoing investigation has led me to meet and study with some of the most revered dance masters of the island.

A DANCE WITH HUMANS AND HORSES

I dream of horses, often. I talk to animals daily. I find it hard to breathe if there is not a dog in the room. Animals, particularly horses and dogs, ground me, center me.

My adventures into the world of Equus propelled me into a world of possibility that draws on my strengths as a somatic dancer:  how am I experiencing the present movement through breath, sensation, and gravity?  How can I befriend, embrace, and create inside the mysterious unfolding of the relationship with these magical creatures? This delightful intersection has led me to the collaborative creation of a new site-specific dance work–Moon Marrow with horses and the land. Co-creators are Karen Sanchez, Grace Roberts, Madeleine Sisson, Hales Wilson and Ethan Guillen.
